How to choose
With the right file you give your nails a beautiful, strong shape without them splitting. Here you'll find Alessandro nail files for hands and feet.
- Fingernails and thin nails: the profi file 240/240, a soft, fine file.
- Shaping and shortening: the profi file 100/180, with a coarse and a fine side.
- Hard toenails: the high speed file or banana file 100/100, a coarse file.
Always file in one direction, from the side towards the centre, and finish the edge with a fine file. Fingernails are strongest in an oval or rounded square shape, toenails are filed straight. More tips in nail care.
Frequently asked questions
Everything you want to know
Which nail shape is strongest?
For fingernails an oval or rounded square shape, without sharp corners that break. File toenails straight across to reduce the risk of ingrown nails.
Can I file back and forth?
No, file in one direction. Sawing back and forth weakens the nail edge and makes nails brittle.
What do the numbers on a nail file mean?
That's the grit. The higher the number, the finer the file: 240 is gentle, 100 is coarse.
